Shipping This Site With GitHub Pages + CI/CD
Notes on how I wired up Astro, GitHub Actions, and GitHub Pages for a clean deploy workflow.

Why GitHub Pages
I wanted a zero-cost, low-maintenance deploy that still felt professional. GitHub Pages is perfect for static sites, and Astro makes it easy to generate a clean build.
The Flow
This is the basic setup I landed on:
- Build the site on every push to
main. - Publish the
dist/output to GitHub Pages. - Keep the workflow simple and easy to debug.
What I Configured
- Astro build output set to
dist/. - GitHub Actions workflow that runs
npm ciandnpm run build. - GitHub Pages configured to deploy from the Actions workflow.
What I Like About It
The deployment pipeline is reliable, fast, and doesn’t need any manual intervention. Once it is set, I can focus on writing and shipping.
Next Iterations
I plan to add a staging branch and run Lighthouse checks as part of the pipeline, but the current setup already feels solid.
